Our last night on the Atlantic started with a nice Squall. Right after sunset dark clouds covered the horizont and we prepared ourselves for an outside shower. The sailes were reefed and the cockpit cushions insode – we waited for the rain but non came. Instead the dark clouds passed by and about half an hour later the wind hit us. We had 10 minutes with a force 8 or 9 and then everything dissipated as fast as it came. Right now I’m sitting at the cockpit table with my laptop, we’ve got a steady force six from ENE and are eating our last miles quite rapidly. We’re doing six to seven knots and if the wind stays it will be a rocky night but it will be the last one. We should arrive at Barbados tuesday, sometime in the evening, probably a little after sunset. I didn’t yet check our emails but I guess, the SY Hitch-Hike-Heidi must have arrived by now and we’re eager to see them again. Today Gui was speaking via VHF with Mike of the SY Nubia. We passed by today at around eight in the morning – he’ll arrive a few hours after us. Unfortunately we were too far south so we couldn’t actually see each other. But during the night we saw our first two ships since about a week. We really are geting closer to land – you can tell.
Well that’s it for now, I’ll go inside for a moment to connect to the internet. And after that I’m gonna enjoy my last night watch out here on the beautiful Atlantic ocean.
